TH Sept Well after a busy schedule over in Nova Scotia making connections with those interested in the radio station, it was back to business as usual. Or so I thought, an email from the Press Association was ‘advising’ to observe the Queens funeral and to halt broadcasting. I immediately felt threatened and decided to broadcast despite their advice. The response was amazing we attracted a whole raft of new listeners craving normality. On the show was Andrew Wilson who was polite and circumspect as usual, keeping me calm and quiet at my displeasure of having to observe  the royal funeral. Bill Cruikshank was on later and we explored the future King and how Scotland might recieve him. Really good and informative guests to help plough through the media hysteria.

TH Sept I am flying solo no guests today but it gives me an opportunity to air all the new music that gets sent to Caledon Radio.  It really was a pleasure to let our audience  hear the talents of our young musicians. We highlight Scottish talent such as Josie Duncan, Sarah Markey, Tina Jordan Rees, Elephant Sessions Ho-Ro and Kyle Warren to name but a few.  We also recieved some new jingles from Canada and the USA some are really funny with some weird pronounciations.

ST Sept Well one of the bands who sent us their new album was Breabach. I got my hands on a copy and listened to an amazing exciting refreshing new sound from a band that have been around for a wee while. James Lindsay who plays bass with the band joined me for a chat. It was the first time I interviewed a bass player. James was an easy guest giving light and explaining how this album was so different from previous ones. Definitely more song based but still with the professional touch of a band who know what they are doing. James kept me laughing about the struggles carrying a massive instrument to gigs. I bought a bigger car!

ND Sept One of those days you just know is going to be good with Alison Graham keeping me company. This gal tell the honest truth about what we need to do to influence the influencers. The Scottish Government are the influencers and are those we must challenge. We explored the effect of Westminster MPS and what have they achieved for Scotland. Not much and it was agreed the SNP group have settled in not settled up. Uncomfortable stuff but if we dont talk we dont get further forward. The responses from, especially women to Allison was heartening and well deserved. I really think she struck a chord with a lot of listeners.

RD Sept Well this show is going to be very special. I recieved an album from a band called Marouli whch sounds rather exotic until you realise it is Greek for ‘lettuce’ ! Nor put off I started to listen and was so impressed I put out a tweet that I was playing Tall Tales from  a Distant Uncle and the response was instant. The album is so good I have it on my I pod when im out running. Graham McCusker is the main man writing and composing all the music. I was delighted to have him on. We spoke about his cancer and the inflence that and the death of his Gran had on his music. What a delightful lad and a creative genius to boot.

Same start to the week on Monday where the weekend news and sport was reviewed. Ably assisted with Andrew Wilson to give his thought provoking unput. After the show it was time to deal with packing for Nova Scotia to meet up with several people really interested in Caledon Radio. The first thing to do is complete all the covid vaccination passport details. This involves downloading an app writing out forms and a whole load of post covid beauracracy. Once […]
